Every time I come to Richmond I make it a point to stop by here for their hot and spicy rice noodles. It's one of the things I look most forward to on my yearly trip to Vancouver BC.
The noodles are spicy but not unbearable. I always order mine spicy but you can choose mild as well. Since this is szechuan food you'll naturally get that numbing sensation from the Sichuan peppercorns which I absolutely love! They definitely don't skimp on the Sichuan seasoning here.
For $8.30CAD I'd say it's totally worth it. The noodles are packed with flavor. Though a bit oily, in my experience most szechuan dishes are. If you like spicy foods then you have to check out szechuan house! -

Stay away from the beef noodle at all costs if you value your health and keeping sensation to your taste buds. I ordered a medium spicy level and should've gotten the mild or none because the noodles were literally DROWNED in hot chili oil that clogged up my arteries and left my mouth feeling greasy. There was an unpleasant aftertaste that left my tongue and lips feeling numb. Along with it being too spicy to enjoy it was also salty.
I tried my friend's spicy dandan noodles and it was slightly better, relative to mines but it was also overly salty. The only positive thing I can say about the beef noodles is that the beef was very tender. Unfortunately I was only given very few and fatty pieces.
Save your money and spend it somewhere else worthy of your appetite. -

Decent Szechuan in your Aberdeen food court. If you're craving that fragrant sichuan spiciness like myself, then you don't really have too many choices (especially if you don't have cash).
Luckily, Szechuan House takes card and wechat/Ali pay!
I ordered the Dan Dan noodles and the spicy dumplings.
Dan Dan noodles 3/5
pretty minimalist - Literally just noodles and ground meat. The first bite was quite tasty (literally just saw a Food Ranger episode on Dan Dan noodles and was intensely craving this taste), second bite not so much and by the time I got near the end of the bowl, I was already pretty done. The sauce was a little on the salty side and lacked the balance to keep it going for the whole meal, but not necessarily bad either.
Dumplings 2/5
The only thing good about the dumplings was the Mala (numbing spicy) sauce it came with. These are machine made and the artificially homogenous texture/taste just doesn't work for me. Not worth the $9. -

I ordered the Dan Dan noodles. While very greasy and oily, the flavor and spiciness were absolutely amazing. Probably one of the better Dan Dan noodles. Note that these Dan Dan noodles are not the kind that come with peanut sauce, just the numbing spicy flavor. For $8 it's a bit pricey but worth it.

I ordered mapo tofu and wonton in soup. I normally like their food and have had better experiences, BUT NOT THIS TIME.
After I ordered, the boy worker took his nail clipper, crouched down behind the front counter, and STARTED CLIPPING HIS FINGER NAILS. This is very DIRTY and UNHYGIENIC because he could get his nail clippings into the food. He shouldn't be doing that on the job that involves handling food. Halfway while he was clipping his nails, he had to stop and bring out the food for a customer before me. He didn't wash his hands when he did that. When you clip your nails, the dirt and dust from the clippings are on your fingers, so he shouldn't be handling the food without washing his hands first. Then when he was done bringing out the food, he went back down the counter and continued clipping his finger nails. The fact that he keeps a pair of nail clippers ready at the front counter means that he ALWAYS clips his finger nails at work, not at home. This is a really dirty thing to do while working at a restaurant and should not be allowed.
Then I asked him if I could have a small container of chilli oil. He used an extra small container and only filled it up 2 millimetres. That's not even enough for ONE piece of wonton.
Then when I ate the wonton, I found a small piece of METAL SCOURING PAD stuck to one wonton. What if a child was eating that and swallowed it? Just dangerous, dirty, and unacceptable.
This place is really dirty. Just don't go there. This place needs a visit by the food inspector.
